
KHLT is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is elected by the general membership with staggered three-year terms.

Sam Means - PresidentSam worked as a land manager for the State of Alaska for thirty years. He managed legal and physical access across state land, and spent several years with the Municipal Lands Trustee Program, working with Village Councils and Native Village Corporations in unincorporated villages. Sam joined the KHLT board in October 2009, became Vice President in November 2012, and President in December 2014. |

Donna Robertson Aderhold - Vice-PresidentDonna is the program coordinator for Gulf Watch Alaska, a Gulf of Alaska marine ecosystem long-term monitoring program funded by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council. As a wildlife biologist she believes that land conservation is one of the most important things humans can do to ensure maintenance of healthy ecosystems for future generations. She is on the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve's Community Council, Homer City Council, and is a member of the professional organization The Wildlife Society. Donna served on various KHLT committees before joining the board in June 2012. She became Vice President in December 2014. |

Larsen Klingel - TreasurerLarsen is a self-employed investor. His family created our Klingel Fund and has donated several lots as trade land, providing substantial support for our conservation work. Larsen has been on the board of KHLT since 2002, and has served as Treasurer since 2007. |

Hannah Heimbuch - SecretaryBorn and raised in Homer, Hannah works summers as a commercial fisherman. The rest of the year she is a freelance reporter and serves as a community fisheries organizer for the Alaska Marine Conservation Council. Hannah was elected to the KHLT board in December 2014. |

Joey AllredJoey was elected to the board in November of 2013. Committed to public service, he has been on the Board of Directors of the Anchor Point Seniors and currently serves on the Alaska Fish and Game Advisory Council. |

Marian BeckA life-long local resident, Marian has been on the board of KHLT since 1994, our longest standing board member. She owns the Kachemak Bay Ferry and the Saltry Restaurant in Halibut Cove, is an artist and an authorized seal rehabilitator, and is active in the local equestrian club. |

Read DunnRead was raised on the East Coast and gradually moved West. He earned a Master’s Degree in Economics at Penn State University, and then became a CPA in Michigan. For almost fifty years he was employed as a banker, first in Michigan and then for the last ten years of his career in Wasilla. Much of his banking career revolved around real estate lending and management. Outside of his employment, Read served on two different planning commissions and a tax equalization board. In 2017, Read retired and moved to Homer to enjoy the company of his daughter, Jane, and her family. |
John MouwJohn is a retired property manager and has been on the KHLT board since 1997. He served as Treasurer for 8 1/2 years and Vice President for 4 years. He is on the Board of Directors of the Homer Foundation and is a member of the Rotary Club of Homer-Kachemak Bay.

karen wuestenfeldKaren was drawn to be a KHLT volunteer after retiring from over 30 years as an environmental professional, wanting to continue to provide her expertise and enthusiasm for conserving resource values in the land trust area. She has worked in the public sector, in environmental consulting, and for BP, both locally and in the corporate office. Karen has an M.S. from the University of Michigan in Water Resources Management, and a B.S. from Michigan State University in Resource Management. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Alaska Public Media. Karen has lived in Anchorage since 1981, and has been a part time Homer resident since 1995. She will make Homer her permanent residence in 2018. Karen enjoys gardening, fishing, cooking, reading, and is learning to paint. |
